This phase of lower volatility suggests that the market is building momentum for its next directional move. The longer the range remains tight, the stronger the potential move once Nifty breaks out of it.
A flat but cautious opening is expected for the benchmark indices, tracking weak cues from global markets. Nifty may attempt a fragile rebound from the 24000 support zone towards 24,200. However, failure to sustain this recovery could lead to a breach of 23800. A decisive break and sustained trade below 23,700, an interim behaviour shift zone, may signal the beginning of a fresh leg of the downtrend.
Traders are advised to continue adopting a Sell-on-Rise strategy until a clearer directional signal emerges.
From a positional perspective, investors may consider utilising rallies to lighten positions until Nifty delivers a decisive close above 24,700, the core behavioural shift zone that would signal a meaningful improvement in market sentiment. On the downside, a decisive break below 23,700, the interim behavioural shift zone, could trigger a deeper corrective phase. However, as long as Nifty holds above 23,700, the broader bullish structure remains intact despite the ongoing phase of consolidation.
