A pause in geopolitical tensions has offered some relief to the benchmark indices, allowing Nifty to stabilise after recent selling pressure. However, the broader trend remains cautious, with volatility likely to persist as markets continue to track developments on the geopolitical front.
Nifty may witness range-bound and volatile action in the near term, with a decisive breakout on either side of the prevailing range likely to determine the next directional move.
Traders may adopt a Buy-on-Dips and Sell-on-Rise approach until a clear trend emerges.
A stable yet flat opening is expected for the final week of July, reflecting favourable global cues following a temporary halt in strikes between the warring regions. The easing of geopolitical tensions has weighed on oil prices and, for now, helped cool inflationary concerns.
Nifty may attempt to bounce towards 24,000, which is likely to act as a crucial decision-making zone. Sustaining above this level could encourage further upward movement, while the emergence of selling pressure may push the index back towards its recent swing low.
Nevertheless, as long as Nifty holds 23,700, the interim behavioural shift zone, buying interest may continue to emerge, keeping the index in a broad consolidation phase.
A decisive breakout above 24,000 may pave the way for a retest of the recent swing high near 24,300, whereas a break below the immediate support zone could drag the index towards 23,500 to seek fresh buying support.
From a positional perspective, the broader bullish trend is unlikely to resume unless Nifty registers two consecutive daily closes above 24,700. On the downside, a decisive daily close below 23,700 could increase the probability of an extended corrective phase towards 23,100, followed by 22,600.
