Rather than signalling exhaustion, the recent range-bound movement reflects a healthy absorption of gains, allowing bullish sentiment to rebuild. As long as key support levels remain intact, this period of consolidation is likely to serve as a launchpad for the next meaningful directional move.
The benchmark indices are poised for a Gap-Up start despite mixed global cues. The Nifty is expected to continue consolidating within the 23,900 to 24,200 band for the first maximum part of the day. A decisive move beyond this range could shape the day’s trend, with 23,800 offering immediate support and 24,300 likely to cap the initial upside.
From a positional perspective, the Nifty needs to register a decisive breakout and sustain a close above the core behavioural shift zone of 24,700 to reaffirm the broader bullish trend. Until then, the index is likely to remain confined within a broad 23,700 to 24,700 range, with volatility continuing to dominate sentiment. While this extended consolidation may offer trading opportunities at the extremes of the range, only a convincing close beyond either boundary is expected to determine the market’s next major directional move.
