After trading firmly on 3rd August and witnessing heightened volatility on 4th August, Nifty entered a relatively thin range in today’s session, signalling a temporary contraction in momentum. The 3rd August range now assumes greater significance, with a decisive break on either side likely to provide the next directional cue.
A sustained move above the 3rd August high could revive the positive momentum and extend the prevailing upmove, while a break below its low may trigger further profit booking and weaken the near term structure. Until such a breakout occurs, Nifty may continue to remain range-bound with sector specific movements.
A flat opening is expected for Nifty amid mixed trends across international markets. The index may continue to swing between 24,400 and 24,700 for most of the session, with sector specific triggers influencing movements. A decisive break beyond either end of this range could steer Nifty towards 24,300 or 24,800, respectively.
From a positional perspective, Nifty needs to consecutively close above 24,700 to validate a sustained change in market behaviour and strengthen the bullish outlook.
