The benchmark indices extended their losing streak as persistent selling pressure and cautious investor sentiment weighed on the markets. Despite intermittent recovery attempts during the session, the Nifty failed to sustain at higher levels and drifted lower, reflecting the absence of strong buying interest.
It’s a Gap-Down opening for the benchmark indices, tracking weak signals from major overseas markets. The trend for the rest of the session is expected to be volatile between 23700 and 24000.
However, as long as the index holds above the stipulated support, the possibility of a sharp relief rally cannot be ruled out. Traders may utilise such pullbacks to reduce long positions by adopting a Sell-on-Rise strategy.
From a positional perspective, the broader bullish trend is unlikely to resume unless the Nifty registers two consecutive daily closes above 24,700. On the downside, a decisive close below 23,700 on the daily timeframe could increase the probability of an extended corrective phase towards 23,100, followed by 22,600.
